中文课程简介

现如今，数理科学的学术研究主题往往都脱不开两件事，一是待解决的问题与生物分子相关，二是解决问题的手段中至少一部分是使用计算模型的，如各种优化与模式识别算法（所谓“人工智能/机器学习”）。本课程使用生物分子和遗传学中的样例问题，旨在帮助几乎没有写代码和数理编程基础的学生掌握一系列计算建模的基本技巧。本课不需要学生有生物学专业背景。

英文课程简介

Many of the active research topics in physical sciences nowadays are related to a) the solving of a problem related to biological molecules, and b) involving, at least to some extent, computational models and algorithms on optimisation and pattern recognition (“AI/machine learning”). This course aims to equip students who have little or no background in coding and numerical programming techniques with an essential toolbox of computational modelling skills, based on example problems from the biological (molecular/genetic) domains. A biological background is not required.
