这门课程通过生命周期考查休闲心理以及休闲对儿童、成年人、家庭和社区的影响。包括通过考查休闲的历史趋势学习休闲如何影响社会以及宗教、经济和政治系统如何影响休闲；通过考查获取的休闲机会来学习歧视在休闲习惯和服务方面扮演的角色；通过考查个人休闲来学习休闲在儿童时期、青少年时期、青年成年期、家庭以及老年生活期的自我发展中扮演的重要角色；通过考查和运用相关理论和框架（畅、自我决断、社会生态模型、社会认知理论和压抑周期）学习如何解释、预测和改变休闲行为；考查休闲和自然的、人工的和虚拟的环境的关系和相互影响；考查当前的休闲事件和存在的问题以及解决方案。

This course examines the psychology of leisure through the lifespan, and the impact of leisure on children, adults, families, and communities.Students examine historical trends in leisure to learn how leisure shapes a society and how religious, economic and political systems shape leisure.Students examine access to leisure opportunities (in the United States) to learn how discrimination played a role in shaping leisure habits and services today.

Students examine personal leisure (and examples of leisure in America) to learn how leisure plays a crucial role in self-development in childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, family life, and into the senior years.Students examine and apply relevant theories and frameworks (flow, self-determination, social-ecological model, social cognitive theory, cycles of oppression) to learn how to explain, predict, and change leisure behaviors.Students examine the relationships and impacts of leisure and natural, built, and virtual environments.Students examine current events and problems in leisure services and suggest solutions.
