《不朽基因－生命中的遗传秘密》是为了适应通识教育改革，有机地整合了细胞遗传学、分子遗传学、基因组学、临床遗传诊断咨询等学科基础知识及前沿进展，深入浅出、融汇贯通地向本科学生们介绍生命的本质、健康的遗传基础，进而探讨疾病发生发展的遗传机制，同时介绍遗传学与个性化医学、精确医学的关系及在其中的作用。
